Message	might be the MAF sensor just needs to be cleaned. Also have a Black '96 TT. Car wouldn't rev above 2500 rpm's and would shake when driving and stall when stopped. Went to Pepboys and got some MAF cleaner then proceeded to clean that and the connections really well...let dry, connected everthing and battery. Let it run for awhile and it's been driving well ever since.
